Synthesis of CuAl-layered double hydroxide/MgO2 nanocomposite catalyst for the degradation of organic dye under dark condition

Abstract Water pollution as a result of releasing organic and inorganic pollutants is the main concern health risk factor for human beings. To minimize effect toxicity from pollutants, enormous method has been applied. In this report, CuAl-layered double hydroxide/MgO 2 composite catalysts were synthesized via in-situ growth magnesium peroxide on layered hydroxide (LDH) sheet. The preparations performed with varying ratio LDH: MgO which was abbreviated CuAl-LDH/MgO -35, -50, -65 35:65, 50:50, 65:35% weight ratios, respectively. prepared characterized evaluated methyl orange (MO) dye degradation at room temperature under dark conditions. Among catalysts, -50 showed an excellent Fenton-like reaction neutral condition 97% MO degraded in 100 min reaction. However, CuAl-LDH, , degrade only 61, 8, 35, 69% dye. highest efficiency could be due to presence optimum amount copper along sufficient generated hydrogen run process. Moreover, catalyst can also able use repeatedly minimum loss activity. general, suggests that option pollutants.
